JOSEPHINE BAKER DAY MEANS MORE THAN WE KNOW

"While I acknowledge the proximity of May 20th, I equally recognize the significant weight that historical dates carry. Therefore, I am fervently advocating for May 20, 2024, to be designated as the opening day, or in the worst-case scenario, an 'announcement day' with an official celebration preceding the opening. With unwavering determination and optimism, I intend to petition the city of Paris to declare May 20th as Josephine Baker Day—an occasion not only to honor her legacy as a civil rights activist but also to commemorate human rights activists worldwide.

Josephine Baker's tireless efforts in advocating for civil rights and promoting religious tolerance resonate profoundly. Through her international engagements, including organizing anti-racism conferences, she championed the cause of activism on a global scale. It is imperative that we continue to honor the invaluable work of activists, bringing awareness and support to their endeavors, ultimately striving to improve the human experience for all.

As Josephine Baker aptly stated, 'I believe in doing rather than talking.' Let us heed her words and work towards fostering a world where peace and harmony prevail, devoid of prejudice."

I will leave with you in the attachments, the letter of support from 2020 from the Bouillon Baker Family, a letter sent to Laurent Manoeuvre, former Chef de bureau · Ministère de la culture - Direction générale des Patrimoines - Service des musées de France, a video from Josphine Baker Day's first ever celebration in Europe help by MJBADP, some photos and videos from some of our exhibits and outreach work, and three articles kindly reported by the founders of Entrée To Black Paris. "In addition, I have enclosed a PDF document containing the unused plans developed during my tenure as Artistic Director at Le Parc de Josephine Baker, formerly a leisure park established by Josephine Baker and her husband Jo Bouillon. This document outlines the envisioned future objectives for the Musée Josephine Baker et des Afro-Descendants de Paris."
